Ticketmaster vs Swifites : Ticketmaster avoids being the next John Mayer through conformity

Taylor Swift, a pop icon, a mother to a fanbase of unfathomable numbers--lost the chance to see tons of dedicated fans to the monster that is Live Nation. Recently Taylor Swift released her tenth studio album, Midnights(,currently exceeding 36 billion global streams), and shortly thereafter dropped news on “The Era’s Tour”. Many of my fellow Swifties skipped school on the day of the pre-sale, with nothing to lose but money, time, and high spirits. This same large margin of absentee students were wronged, Ticketmaster had to forcibly halt ticket sales due its greed not accounting for the wellbeing of Taylor’s fans. However, this wrongful act was in November. Tuesday of this week, Live Nation (parent company of TicketMaster), was in a hearing and realized that “they underestimated just who they were stealing from (Better than Revenge, Speak Now).” The senate released a statement that was proud of Swifites stating that “we’re clear at delivering a message,” because they'd “never seen more smiling and happy” demonstrators. The hearing lasted over three hours, with plenty of Taylor references and hundreds of protesters outside the hearing, thanks to Jennifer Kinder. Kinder, an attorney representing Swifites in the lawsuit, helped organize a gathering outside the hearing which she confirmed had an effect on the Senate’s ideals and that they will “definitely make some changes to Ticketmaster.” Kinder presented the idea to the court that Taylor created a sense of strong community and friendship through her music and her fanbase, resulting in the large numbers of people wishing to purchase tickets. Ticketmaster will find themselves conforming, (adjusting behavior or attitude to mold to a group standard) to the Swifities and other large fan bases to lower the “long wait times and exorbitant fees.” By conforming they will be hoping to halt the loss of revenue due to a bad name in the tabloids--- all thanks to Swifties believing that “karma is a relaxing thought (Karma, Midnights)”.
